How Opacity and Background Affect Surface Contact Perception in Optical See-Through AR

Abstract

This paper studies how virtual-object opacity and background affect the perception of surface contact in optical see-through AR. The experiments combine different visual conditions and behavioural and eye-tracking measures to identify when users perceive a virtual object as touching a real surface.
